THE BEST AND WORST OF SEMESTER TWO

The academic year 2003 is finally at a close so it's now time to sit back, relax and await 2004 in comfort and reflect on achievements past.

I will begin by congratulating Felicia Tan, Ong Jing Ru, and Eunice Liu for coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively for Secondary Two English Literature (2B) - just rewards for your effort and hard work! Well done!

For GEP, Gayle Goh (3M) and Kang Min Li (3N) took the honours for English Language, while the top places in Literature went to Gayle Goh (Pure) and Yu Kang Hao (Elect).

I am proud of all of your achievements in 2003 and look forward to your continued progress in 2004!

DUBIOUS HONOURS

Now, back by popular demand, the dubious honours for Semester Two!

THE MOST CONSPICUOUS

Whether in class or at play, Brian makes his presence known without fail and this is why he has outclassed all other competition to comfortably secure this award. This self-styled prophet of quantum physics and camera-friendly mollusc is ever ready to voice his unique opinion - whether we care to hear it or not.

THE MOST UNAFFECTED

Award-winner Ben has been happy to let the world revolve around him this year - and indeed if he were any more relaxed he would be practically horizontal. Come on Ben, you can do better. I hope you adopt a more serious attitude in 2004, your O-Level year.

THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS

You would think that such an award would be automatically bestowed on Gayle, but this time two other candidates have surfaced late in the game at the Level Camp. Firstly, there is Kenric who paraded around in a skin tight T. and hot pants ensemble that so shocked and horrified Miss Chia and secondly, Walter who got in touch with his feminine side at the campfire. A touch decision, but the top honour goes to Walter for being "such a drag".

THE MOST BLUR

Yi Han pretty much owns this award for life. This year she not only missed the boat, but the wharf, the harbour and anything even vaguely nautical. I think she was perpetually somewhere inland - standing inert in the middle of an ever-expanding desert would be my guess.

THE BEST IDOL CHASER

While Winnie and Amanda are leading cadidates because of their adoration of increasingly androgenous Taiwanese boybands :-), Neo-phile Min Li secures the award for her consistent devotion to "The One". Not only would she take the red pill, she would swallow Morpheus' entire supply in one go to hasten the process of meeting her idol.

THE BEST BOYBAND

This award goes to the singing trio of Arvin, Wei Sheng and Zi Cheng for their (inappropriate) impromptu performances that have at times bordered on the disturbing.

THE BEST IMPERSONATION OF A TOMATO

This award without question goes to Sarah who developed a habit of blushing a bright crimson in Lit where she was exposed to the full might of Gayle Uncensored - enough said really.
